• FOOD4ME -Molecular Nutrition & Personalised Nutrition (Mike Gibney)

How can we use our understanding of food and our genes to design a better, healthier and more individual diet? Studies have shown that individuals respond differently to nutrients and varying dietary intakes suggesting that blanket public dietary advice is not the most effective technique for improving public health. When the human genome sequence was launched in 2000, it introduced the possibility of personalised nutrition; where a diet is tailored for an individual according to their specific physical and genetic make-up. Food4Me is a new, EU (FP7) funded project investigating the potential of this personalised nutrition. This test will ascertain if you’re one of the many people who are perfectly designed robots of the system. Unfortunately, most individuals have no clue about how reality works and are instead engaged in fruitless fighting against each other. How are we meant to wake these people up to the actual reality they live in before we sink into complete totalitarianism? The first step is to encourage ourselves and others to ask the following questions. If you answer yes to them, you’ve been brainwashed by the status quo. Don’t believe me though; get your serious research on by, you know, reading books, watching documentaries and following the plethora of brilliant social commentators in the alternative media who are handing the people their freedom on a silver platter. So, do you believe that: 1. Conspiracies are bullshit and that there’s no way information is being hidden from you? 2. Those at the tippy top of the power pyramid have your best interests and the earth’s best interests at heart? 3. Politicians are at the tip of this power structure? 4. Our governments are operating independently of this shadow structure? 5. Free trade agreements such as the TPP and TTIP are in the best interests of the people and not corporations? 6. Law equals ethics? 7. Personal freedom is fundamental to our legal systems? 8. Democracy is in a healthy state and therefore there’s no need for electoral and legal reform? 9. Politicians, academics, journalists and scientists are not compartmentalized and therefore can see the big picture of how the system works? 10. The mainstream media provides cutting edge information in an unbiased way that will reflect to you the truth about what’s happening in our world? 11. You’re going to find the absolute, no holds barred truth, via the TV? 12. The system is the way it is because that’s the only way it could work? 13. Pre-existing money is loaned by banks, not freshly created by them out of thin air? 14. We need private banking organizations to make money out of nothing for us and make squillions of dollars for the privilege? 15. A genuine people’s central bank will create hyperinflation and initiate the end of the world? 16. Money will always be necessary and that it is not a tool of enslavement? 17. The widespread suffering across our planet is not the result of the economic system, but the result of natural forces? 18. Adding toxins to our food, water, air and medicine is good for our health? 19. The pharmaceutical-medico complex truly wants to create cures, not customers? 20. They’re not using the same tactics as the tobacco industry once did? 21. They’re trying really hard to find cures for diseases, such as cancer, and that there’s absolutely no way they would suppress any such cures? 22. When near bottomless pits of money is involved in scientific ‘research’, results are not skewed to advantage the corporations funding it? 23 Natural therapies – such as meditation, herbal medicines and basic nutrition – are pseudoscience woo-woo? 24. Reality is only made of ‘matter’, consciousness is its byproduct, and you are not a powerful mind of interconnected consciousness who is comprised of both magic and madness? 25. The war-on-drugs has been intelligent and ethical, as well as successful? 26. This policy has not resulted with massively adverse impacts on society, such as increased addiction, imprisonment and criminal activity, as well as been appropriately respectful towards our natural right to explore our own consciousness? 27. The education system is genuinely designed to create little creatures of self-discovery, health, civil service and personal freedom? 28. The wars in our world have not been purposely orchestrated for more power and money? 29. Your enemy is someone in the 99.9%? 30. Or do you believe that you need to unite with your fellow man, no matter the small or large differences you may have, and work together to undermine the self-serving sickos and the system they’ve purposely designed at our collective expense? If you answered yes to the last question, you get two thumbs up! If you’re still overwhelmed by answering yes to the previous questions, then you’ve got some study to do. If so, you know that ‘crazy’ friend that you’ve got on Facebook who keeps sharing stuff that you think is ‘crazy’? Yeah, you might want to contact them to ask what the fuck is going on.

Subscribe to Cycling Weekly here: https://www.youtube.com/user/CyclingWeekly1?sub_confirmation=1 Ever heard of VO2 max but wondered what it was? Let our expert explain, and read on for a workout to improve yours. Everyone wants bigger lungs, right? Well, there’s good news and bad news, as Gary Mckeegan, physiologist and lecturer in sports science and coach with Dig Deep Coaching, explains. “For adults, lung capacity is actually pretty static, but we can train to increase the efficiency of our capacity, as not all of the oxygen we inhale is actually absorbed by the body,” he says. “The term ‘VO2 max’ refers to the maximal volume of oxygen that can be inhaled and absorbed by a body.” But why is oxygen important for training? “It’s used to break down the carbs, fats and protein in your body into usable fuel for your muscles,” says Mckeegan. “If less oxygen is available than required, i.e. when riding harder than normal, the body has to find other ways of providing that fuel. A by-product of this is lactic acid, which will slow you down. Therefore if you can get more oxygen into the bloodstream the less lactic acid will be produced for a given workload.” So how do we discover our capacity to absorb oxygen? Mckeegan explains: “To accurately measure it requires being hooked up to a gas analyser, which can be expensive and time-consuming. But there are some road tests that can predict VO2 max, like the Functional Threshold Power (FTP) test.” In brief, if you ride flat-out for 20 minutes, record your average power and take five per cent off that figure, you’ll find your threshold power. Your VO2 max training zone will be around 110-120 per cent of that benchmark. Training to improve it is simpler than you’d think. “Riders who already have a base of training would benefit further by training just above the pace/effort level they would be able to hold for a 10-mile TT or 20-minute FTP test but for a shorter time period,” says Mckeegan. Essential points - Do an FTP test - Train at the right intensity - Combat lactic acid - Absorb more oxygen Boost your VO2 max If you’re looking for some homework, you’ve come to the right place, as Mckeegan has a training session that will help you boost your VO2 Max: “Warm up for 15 minutes at a steady pace, then ride for a further 15 minutes slightly harder (but at a pace where you can still have a conversation). Next, do five intervals of three to five minutes with recovery periods of three to five minutes. Finish with a 10-minute cool-down.” Follow Mckeegan’s advice and you’ll be off the front at your next Sunday ride in next to no time. Key facts Aerobic exercise uses up your oxygen supplies more quickly. Once the availability of oxygen is reduced, your body uses other sources of energy. In this event, glycogen is broken down into a substance that is converted to lactic acid, which leads to a feeling of muscle exhaustion. Interval training is the best way to train your lungs to work at their most efficient. Sets of five intervals at 110-120 per cent of your FTP is enough to increase your lungs’ ability to absorb oxygen. Make sure you warm up and cool down properly before and after the training. Once you’re used to the training session, the best way to continue your improvement is to increase the number of intervals, increase the length of them, or reduce the time you spend in recovery between them. Finding the right level you need to be training at to improve the capacity of your lungs to more readily absorb oxygen is essential. 'Public Evaluation of Entitlement Programs' was conducted in May-June 2013. The intention was to ascertain the impact of five crucial state schemes: integrated child development services (for children and mothers), mid day meal (for school going children), public distribution system (for food rations), national rural employment guarantee act (work for households) and the elderly and widow pension schemes. Studying these five schemes across ten states will help paint a comprehensive picture of the need for these entitlements over the life cycle of a person. One of the questions that we asked was - 'What did you eat last night?" The follow up questions were the following options - Vegetables, Pulses, Milk, Fruit, Eggs (protein), Meat (protein), Fish (protein), Oil (fat). Usually, when families do not have vegetables, they have roti (carbohydrate) with either a chutney or pickle or salt (in that order depending on how dire circumstances are). This is mainly to determine nutrition and comparative income levels. While asking this question, people would invariably laugh and get slightly embarrassed. I couldn't figure out why but I loved their reaction and looked forward to asking this question during the course of the half hour interviews. This video is a collection of these conversations that we had with people in Baran, Rajasthan an area know for starvation deaths and bonded labour. Analysis apart, what I took away from this was that so many people get by on so little. In a city where the National Food Security Bill is debated clause by clause, these interactions unpacked the complicated policy discussions for me. To get at least some minimum amount of grain for survival in the house every month, the PDS is nothing short of a lifeline for millions of people.

http://bit.ly/maximizermuscle - HURRY! CLICK HERE NOW FOR YOUR FREE AB RIPPER WORKOUT! Nutrition guide for p90x (or P90X as it has become known) is the latest craze in the health and physical fitness market and it has become a worldwide phenomenon. Nutrition guide for p90x has taken the exercise world by storm and it's easy to see why when you look at the results being attained. It's angled as a "weight-loss and body sculpting" system and was developed Beach Body specialist Tony Horton. Why is it so popular? Well results first and foremost, but also because of its novel but hugely effective approach to exercise and diet. The basic idea that underpins the whole program is "muscle confusion". Basically if you keep your different muscle groups doing as many different things as possible muscle confusion is created. If you can attain "muscle confusion" your body will avoid the "plateau effect" that many exercise programs suffer from. It is a widely accepted flaw in most exercise and body building plans. In essence, this is the situation where any progress achieved in the early part of a given exercise regime levels out making further advances more and more difficult to achieve as your body gets used to the program you're on. The coupling of a wide and varied exercise program with a specialist nutrition program that runs in tandem with the various stages of the P90X exercise program is what has helped make P90X so successful. The nutrition guide for p90x mirrors the exercise program by being is split into three sections (three thirty day programs) which help progress you along the path to your stated aims. So, the nutrition guide for p90x is a vital compliment to the exercise regime - the two go hand-in-hand.Power 90X Nutrition PlanPhase 1 Fat Shredder in this phase you will need to eat a lot of high protein food. This is to "kick-start" the process of build muscles and also helps you to start losing fat. Phase 2 Energy Booster here you introduce carbohydrates to mix with the protein as well as low-fat foods. This aids increased energy levels. Phase 3 Endurance Maximizer At this stage complex carbohydrates are introduced and mixed with lean proteins, and low-calorie fats. By now you are deeply into the exercise program and this combination of foods helps provide you with the energy and stamina needed to maximize the benefit from what are now very tough workout routines. The nutrition guide for p90x is based around pretty strict meal plans and portion control. However, despite the strict control the nutrition guide for p90x does give you plenty of options and adaptations to vary your meals...as long as you remain within the serving and portion sizes given according to your own personal plan. This raises another issue in that before you start P90X, you will need to gauge your required nutrition level (based on your program goals) to ascertain your required daily calorie intake. This needs to be based on your level of activity, resting metabolic rate and body fat index - all of these key metrics will need to be measured before you start. Some of the categorized food groups by nutrition guide for p90x are as follows: Dairy (low-fat milk and cheeses) Proteins (lean meats (fat-free) and eggs) Organics fruit and vegetables Complex Carbohydrates (bread and pasta) Snacks (soya, dried fruits, nuts, protein bars) Condiments (marinades, dressings and mustards - as long as they are low-fat, honey) Simple Recipes One of the beauties of the nutrition guide for p90x is that it provides simple recipes as well as assigning caloric values to the food groups. This is designed to make it very easy for you to work out your meal plans within the portion sizes and servings guidelines.Simple grocery lists and a variety of supplement options are also provided once you are enrolled in the program like, for example, the nutrition guide for p90x which helps you recover by re building your glycemic index after exercise. The main point of the nutrition guide for p90x is that you should eat small meals often throughout the day (this ensures your metabolic rate remains high - so you keep burning fat). And do make sure you drink a lot of water. There are no special meal packages to buy on P90X (which I think is a real bonus)- you are simply given a list of food that you can get from the local store. The plan is all about the combination of the powerful 13-week physical exercise program coupled with the healthy eating habits in the nutrition guide for p90x - Keep the goal in mind! The purpose is to help you lose weight and sculpt your body. There are many, many great testimonials for nutrition guide for p90x, but that discipline to stick with the program and keep pressing play on your DVD player is absolutely key to success! http://bit.ly/maximizermuscle

It’s the day of actor-presenter Paul Gerrard’s hair transplant at Man Cave Sydney and although he expected to be a little nervous, he is relaxed and upbeat about having a procedure that will ultimately transform his appearance. After being greeted by Dr Sara Kotai, Dr Martinick introduces Paul to the friendly, professional surgical support team, he is prepped for the procedure and, with his consent and input, his new hairline is marked out. Dr Martinick advises him that his new hairline will fade out in the same way that it does in nature and the same effect will be gained with his new temples. On working with Paul’s scalp, our doctors ascertain they will obtain 4,000 follicles from a donor strip of permanent hair at the back of his head. When this is done, the surgical support team immediately begins meticulously dissecting the precious donor follicles for transplant. The careful and timely handling of these precious donor follicles is critical for successful hair transplant procedures. The follicles must be placed back into the scalp within six hours to ensure they obtain the nutrition and oxygen needed for healthy growth. While the surgical support team painstakingly works on splicing up the follicles for transplant, Dr Martinick and Dr Kotai prepare the recipient sites where the donor follicles will be replanted. Paul’s transplant procedure is concentrated on the frontal areas of his scalp and temple areas to provide him with the youthful appearance he is seeking. Having been given twilight sedation Paul has dozed off during the procedure. He is so relaxed that when, after six hours, Dr Martinick quizzes him how long he thinks he has been in theatre, he assumes he has been there for three hours. With just one hour to go before the procedure is completed, Paul advises he has felt no discomfort throughout the day. During the remaining hour, our doctors dedicate their time to utilise left over follicles to build on the density that has already been created. “It’s been an exciting day. I have been loved, looked after, fed, watered and had a hair transplant, says Paul. “The next time you see me on camera you will get a progress report.” Like every hair transplant performed for Martinick Hair Restoration and New Hair Clinic, Paul’s procedure has been individualised to ensure his new hair looks natural and thick. ---------------------- Martinick Hair Restoration is at the forefront of hair loss and hair restoration research and education, employing the state of the art Martinick Technique. Nagpur, 2016 Jun 11 (PTI) In an extremely rare case, a baby girl with a severe congenital disorder and near-total missing external body skin, was born at a city hospital in the wee hours today. In medical parlance, this condition is called Harelquin Ichthyosis. A young woman gave birth to the baby girl at the Lata Mangeshkar Medical College and Hospital around 12.30 AM. A team of doctors, including Dr Yash Banait, Dr Prachi Dixit, Dr Meenakshi and Dr Nilofar Mujawar, were involved in the delivery. Ads by ZINC "The infant was born with a congenital disorder, which occurs because of mutation in the genes. The overall incidence of Harlequin Ichthyosis is one in three lakh births," noted obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Avinash Banait, told PTI when contacted. "Harlequin ichthyosis is a very rare severe genetic skin disease, which causes thickening of the stratum corneum of the epidermis. In such cases, the childs whole body is encased in an armour of thick white plates of skin, separated with deep cracks. In addition, the eyes, ears, private parts and the appendages may be abnormally contracted," he said. Because of resultant cracked skin in locations where normal skin would fold, it is easily pregnable by bacteria and other contaminants, which can result in serious risk of fatal infection, Dr Banait added. The baby, born after a Caesarean operation performed by Dr Dixit, has now been kept under observation as constant care is required to moisturise and protect the skin. "Doctors will be undertaking a 2D Echo investigation to ascertain the cardiac deformities or anomalies if any. The baby requires proper moisturisation and petroleum jelly and coconut oil serves good for this. Nutritional rehabilitation has to be undertaken regularly. But this baby is not finding any difficulty in breathing," he said. According to Dr Banait, the disease can be diagnosed in the uterus by way of fetal skin biopsy or by morphologic analysis of amniotic fluid cells obtained by amniocentesis. Doctors can now usually recognise common features of the disease through ultrasound and follow up with 3D ultrasound to diagnose the condition. "Ultrasound can reveal abnormal facial features with ectropion, eclabium, short foot length, incurved toes, clenched fists, poor delineation of nostrils, and polyhydramnios," he said I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)

Important information regarding syn value of porky lights sausages Official statement from porky whites - AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE MAKERS OF PORKY LIGHTS RE THEIR NUTRITIONAL VALUES Since their launch last year, Porky Lights have become something of a national phenomenon amongst sausage lovers. Their very low 3% fat content and minimal calorie count of just 78 calories per sausage, has meant that they are enjoyed by thousands of people who are watching their weight. Slimming World’s independent accreditation of just half a Syn per sausage for Porky Lights has also contributed a huge amount to the sausages’ popularity. G White & Co, the makers of Porky Lights are a family run business that introduced these sausages to sit alongside their family favourites Porky Whites as a response to the demand from customers for a low fat option. Every aspect of the development of the product has been through a rigorous process, making sure that the product is delicious and wholesome whilst maintaining a low fat content. There is no mystery to this — it is done by using only the leanest cuts of pork so that we can maintain the optimum meat content but without raising the fat content. The nutritional values are the result of the most stringent tests we can use. The tests are completed, calculated and certificated by independent, UKAS accredited, food analysis laboratories. And as a ‘belt and braces’ approach to making sure our published values are accurate, we not only use UKAS accredited labs (the highest level of accreditation we can) but we run identical, parallel tests through different UKAS labs at least once a month, to double check the findings as part of our own quality control. There is a nominal variance that is expected from any fresh product but well within the tolerances that the food industry works to. Slimming World’s recent re-valuation of the Porky Lights Syn value as a result of some new tests has come to light and is causing concern amongst Porky Lights customers. G White & Co are currently in dialogue with Slimming World to establish how their values were ascertained but want to unequivocally state that the Slimming World results are neither consistent between their own batch tests and are highly inconsistent with the nutritional results that have been produced by numerous tests, over a number of months from a number of independent UKAS approved food laboratories. We have only the interests of our customers at this time and have published our most recent set of nutritional results for all to see. We hope to be working closely with Slimming World to understand how their results differ from the findings of other laboratories and hope that once clarified, the temporary withdrawal of Porky Lights from the Slimming World’s Syns Database can be reversed and Porky Lights fans can enjoy their sausages in the full knowledge that they really are only 3% fat and 78 calories per sausage.
